Simulation exercise: Foot and mouth disease in Peru-6

Dr Janios Miguel Quevedo Valle, Director General of Animal Health, National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA), Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of Peru, informed the OIE that three regional field simulation exercises on foot and mouth disease will take place in Peru, at the following dates and places:

• from 23 to 25 September 2015 in the town of Huancayo, province of Junín,
• from 20 to 22 October 2015 in the town of Piura,
• from 10 to 12 November 2015 in the town of Huamanga, province of Ayacucho.
  
  

The objective of these simulation exercises denominated “Simulation of emergency preparedness during an occurrence of foot and mouth disease” is to strengthen management capacities of the adequate and efficient response of a foot and mouth disease occurrence with a view to reducing the economic health impacts that could generate from the virus introduction.

These simulation exercises are directed to professionals of the public and private Service.
