Simulation exercise: Foot and mouth disease in Peru-11

18 to 20 June; 16 to 18 July; 20 to 22 August

Dr Mercedes Lucía Flores Cancino, Director General of Animal Health, National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA), Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of Peru, informed the OIE that three simulation exercises on foot and mouth disease will take place in Peru on the dates and in the regions hereafter:

  • From 18 to 20 June 2019, in the city of Chachapoyas, Amazonas.
  • From 16 to 18 July 2019, in the city of Tacna.
  • From 20 to 22 August 2019, in the city of Pucallpa, Ucayali.


The objective is to strengthen management capacities of the adequate and efficient response of an emergency of a foot and mouth disease occurrence for the SENASA civil servants with a view to mitigating the economic health impacts that could generate from the virus introduction for the above-mentioned disease in Peru.

These simulation exercises are directed to professionals of the public and private Service and are an opportunity to train within the Peruvian territory, this latter being a Member recognised as FMD free where vaccination is not practised.
