Simulation exercise: Foot and mouth disease in Brazil-8

Dr Guilherme Henrique Figueiredo Marques, Director of Department of Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of Brazil, informed the OIE that a table-top and field simulation exercise on foot and mouth disease will take place in the municipality of Miracema do Tocantins, State of Tocantins, from 3 to 7 October 2016.

The objective of the exercise is to practice and improve the response capability of the Veterinary Services, by reviewing theoretical and practical aspects of diagnostic tests, investigation, biosafety, containment and eradication of foot and mouth disease during an exercise allowing to test warning capability and organisation of an early response as well as the management and organisation of the Official Veterinary Services, in accordance with the guidelines of the Foot and Mouth Disease Contingency Plan.
