Simulation exercise: Emerging and exotic diseases in Brazil

Dr Guilherme Henrique Figueiredo Marques, Director of Department of Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of Brazil, informed the OIE that a table-top and field simulation exercise, on initial attention to be brought to the notifications of emerging diseases and exotic diseases, will take place in the State of Mato Grosso from 22 to 28 September 2018.

The objective of the exercise is to practice and test the alert capacity, the organisation of an early warning response of the Official Veterinary Services as well as the management of the GEASE* (Special Group of attention to suspicions of emerging diseases), when facing simultaneous notifications of disease occurrences in fourteen various localities  of the State of Mato Grosso.
