Simulation exercise: Emergency animal disease in Australia

26 October 2010

Dr Andy Carroll, Chief Veterinary Officer, Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, informed the OIE that a field simulation exercise on emergency animal disease, called ‘Exercise Trigger’, will be held in the Dubbo and Narrabri areas of New South Wales (NSW) on 26 October 2010.

The aim of this exercise, conducted by the NSW Police in cooperation with the NSW Department of Industry and Innovation and other State based emergency management agencies, is to practice a multi-agency response and contain the deliberate introduction of a suspected emergency animal disease. It consists in a number of separate but related field activities.
