Simulation exercise: Contagious bovine pleuropneumonia in Ecuador

27 April 2023

Dr Wilson Patricio Almeida Granja, Delegate to WOAH and Executive Director of the Agency for the Regulation and Control of Plant and Animal Health of Ecuador, informed WOAH that a simulation exercise for contagious bovine pleuropneumonia will take place on 27 and 28 April 2023 in Quito, Ecuador.

Federal and local level representatives working in the field and in laboratories will be involved in this simulation exercise, which consists of two parts: updating knowledge on contagious bovine pleuropneumonia and disease control activities; and a scenario-based theoretical simulation exercise.

The purpose of this simulation exercise is to test the capacity to react in the event of a contagious bovine pleuropneumonia emergency and the implementation of the contingency plan for this disease, which consists of technical and management procedures applicable to surveillance, quarantine, slaughter and communication groups.
