Simulation exercise: Avian influenza in Turkey 7

Dr Nihat Pakdil, Deputy Undersecretary, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock of Turkey, informed the OIE that joint real-scale simulation exercises on avian influenza will take place in Palandoken district of Erzurum Province from 8 to 12 August 2016.

The simulation exercises will include table-top and field exercises.

The objectives are to:

• test the Avian Influenza Contingency Plan and train staff on its implementation;

• test operational response arrangements;

• examine the liaison and interdependencies between the key operational partners; and

• consider the impact of the disease as a zoonotic infection.
