Simulation exercise: Avian Influenza in (Republic of) Türkiye

26 to 30 September and 10 to 14 October 2022

Dr. Durali KOÇAK, Delegate to WOAH and Director of the General Directorate of Food and Control at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye, informed WOAH that two joint real-scale simulation exercises on Avian influenza will take place in Kars province from 26 to 30 September and in Diyarbakır Province from 10 to 14 October 2022.

The overall aim of these exercises is to maintain the response skills of the Veterinary Services. The simulation will include table-top and field exercises.

The specific objectives are:

  1. To test the Avian Influenza Contingency Plan.
  2. To train staff on implementation of the Contingency Plan and differential diagnosis.
  3. To test operational response arrangements.
  4. To examine the liaison and interdependencies between the key operational partners.
  5. To consider the impact of the disease as a zoonotic infection.
