Simulation exercise: Avian influenza in Peru

Dr Oscar Domínguez Falcón, Director General for Animal Health, National Animal Health Service (SENASA), Ministry of Agriculture of Peru, informed the OIE that a simulation exercise on avian influenza is taking place in the city of Lima from 10 to 13 July 2006, with the participation of neighbouring countries and international organisations.

This exercise consists of two parts: a theoretical part dealing with subjects such as the Chilean response to this disease, surveillance and control, and diagnosis of the disease, and a practical part dealing with screening and control of the disease in the field. An evaluation will conclude this exercise.
