Simulation exercise: African horse sickness and equine influenza in the Republic of Kazakhstan

Dr Samat Tyulegenov, Delegate to WOAH and Head of Departement of Planning of Veterinary measures and Monitoring of Public Services of the Committee of Veterinary Control and supervision, is informing WOAH that a simulation exercise on African horse sickness and equine influenza will be conducted from 21 June to 23 June 2023 in the Tselinograd and Egindykol districts of the Akmola region, Kazakhstan.

The aim of the exercise is to assess the preparedness of the veterinary services to respond to the occurrence of African horse sickness and equine influenza and enhance the control of the diseases by improving the efficiency of the national veterinary services responsible for disease control, in line with the recommendations and standards of the WOAH.

The exercise will gather various stakeholders, including representatives of research institutes, state veterinary organizations, territorial inspections of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, emergencies authorities, internal affairs bodies, institutions of sanitary and epidemiological control, and healthcare organizations of the Akmola region.
