Simulation exercise: African and classical swine fever in Romania

Dr Cristian Duicu, Director General, National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority of Romania (NSVFSA), informed the OIE that a field simulation exercise on African swine fever (ASF) and classical swine fever (CSF) in wildlife will take place in Ia?i County from 17 to 18 September 2014.

The overall aim of this exercise is to:

•  review and check the Government contingency plans and policies for the control and eradication of ASF and CSF in wildlife with a view to identifying improvements in the plans, instructions, structures and procedures and
•  train the veterinary personnel and the local administration to cope with a challenge of major diseases in swine.
