Fowl typhoid and pullorum disease
General provisions
Standards for diagnostic tests are described in the Terrestrial Manual.
Recommendations for the importation of domestic birds
Veterinary Authorities of importing countries should require the presentation of an international veterinary certificate attesting that the birds:
showed no clinical sign of fowl typhoid and pullorum disease on the day of shipment;
come from establishments which are recognised as being free from fowl typhoid and pullorum disease; and/or
have been subjected to a diagnostic test for fowl typhoid and pullorum disease with negative results; and/or
were kept in a quarantine station for not less than 21 days prior to shipment.
Recommendations for the importation of day-old birds
Veterinary Authorities of importing countries should require the presentation of an international veterinary certificate attesting that the day-old birds:
come from establishments and/or hatcheries which are recognised as being free from fowl typhoid and pullorum disease and from hatcheries which comply with the standards referred to in Chapter 6.5.;
were shipped in clean and unused packages.
Recommendations for the importation of hatching eggs of domestic birds
Veterinary Authorities of importing countries should require the presentation of an international veterinary certificate attesting that the hatching eggs:
have been disinfected in accordance with the standards referred to in Chapter 6.5.;
come from establishments and/or hatcheries which are recognised as being free from fowl typhoid and pullorum disease and from hatcheries which comply with the standards referred to in Chapter 6.5.;
were shipped in clean and unused packages.
