Dr Ricardo Maresca, National Director of Animal Health, National Agrifood Health and Quality Service (SENASA*) Ministry of Agro Industry of Argentina, informed the OIE that a field simulation exercise on an emergency caused by swine diseases will take place in the locality of Salvador Mazza, Salta Province, in Argentina from 12 to 13 September 2018.
The objective of the exercise is to assess aspects in the level of preparedness, reaction capacity, response capacity and use of current regulations as well as the use of application tools for the management of an emergency caused by the possible occurrence of a disease of high impact in pigs. This activity is part of the programme for maintaining the official recognition disease status of country free from classical swine fever.
The exercise will be face-to-face, including field activities in real time and group debates.
In this context, and in the frame of strengthening coordination and response capacities to possible external risk factors in the border area with the Republic of Bolivia, particularly with regard to classical swine fever, representatives of the Veterinary Services of this country (SENASAG) will be invited to participate.
