The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH – founded as OIE) is a leading intergovernmental organisation representing 183 Members worldwide. Through its activities, WOAH makes a decisive contribution to improving animal health, protecting animal welfare and strengthening Veterinary Services. The Organisation provides transparent information on world’s animal health situation, and promotes international standards, particularly in terms of the safety of trade in live animals and animal products. Job Description |
Positioning and reporting The intern will work under the direct supervision of the OH Global Coordinator, in the Global Frameworks Directorate, and will communicate with members of the OH Network for the implementation of related activities. |
Job purpose The intern will be exposed to and receive on the job training on OH frameworks and tools and will assist in contributing to foster OH work at WOAH. |
Missions and activities The Intern will participate in the activities directed by the OH Global Coordinator, to: Contribute to the organization of the activities related to the OH implementation guide, M&E, resource mobilization and advocacy and communication strategies for the One Health Joint Plan of Action; Support the organization of relevant technical activities and trainings; Participate and take notes of the meetings of the internal OH Network, the Quadripartite Secretariat and any other OH meetings and activities as needed; Contribute to the preparation of documents, reports and presentations; Populate and maintain the OH Network internal webpage and the QPT SharePoints and contribute to the update of WOAH OH webpage. Upon completion of the internship, the intern will provide a final report to WOAH summarizing activities undertaken and follow-up actions required. |
Requirements |
Qualifications and Experience Required qualifications and experience Education The candidate must meet the following educational requirements: Currently enrolled in a post-graduate academic programme; Field of study: One Health, Veterinary Public Health, Human Public Health, Environment Health, Social Sciences, International Relations and Development, or other related fields. Expected Skills Technical skills Excellent command, both written and spoken, of English; French and/or Spanish is an asset. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal); Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Technical Competencies Analytical ability: problem definition and establishing research questions; Ability to synthesize and identify relevant information from qualitative and quantitative data; Problem-solving Personal and Interpersonal skills Interest and commitment to engage in the work and mandate of WOAH; Courtesy, effective listening skills, tact and ability to establish and maintain good working relations in a multinational and multicultural environment; Ability to work within short deadlines; Ability to work well as part of a team. Adaptable and flexible. |
Additional Information |
Working conditions Salary: 715 € monthly Type of contract: Internship Duration: The maximum internship duration is 6 months. Location: WOAH Headquarters 12 rue de Prony 75017 Paris, France. The intern must provide proof of enrolment in health insurance plan. The post is a full-time position based at the WOAH Headquarters in Paris and requires long hours in a seated position at a computer. The intern is not expected to travel during the assignment. |
