Acting Now, Investing Smart – Partner Together to Tackle AMR
An initiative from the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) in collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
Antimicrobial resistance already contributes to over one million deaths worldwide each year and to annual GDP losses of US$17 billion in livestock production systems. Without coordinated action, these are expected to rise steadily in the decades ahead, reaching staggering levels by 2050: 39 million deaths and annual global livestock GDP losses of up to US$ 1.7 trillion.
In response, the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), in collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), is convening a high-level dialogue forum, with interactive sessions that will:
- Showcase progress and success stories demonstrating the tangible value of AMR initiatives led by WOAH, OECD, and their partners.
- Explore the synergies between AMR action and other critical global priorities, including climate change, economic resilience, and pandemic preparedness.
- Present WOAH’s five-year strategic vision to cost-effectively contain AMR, including joint OECD projects and partnership pathways for sustainable impact.
This partner engagement event aims to identify strategic funding opportunities and mobilise investment to effectively curb AMR in animals and across the One Health spectrum, generating long-term impact at global, regional, and subregional levels.
