Preface – Antimicrobial resistance: science, standards and stewardship
This issue of WOAH’s Scientific and Technical Review offers a timely collection of articles that are global in their reach and forward-looking in their ambition, embracing advances in the science and a more efficient One Health framing for antimicrobial resistance (AMR) governance, and responding to increased expectations for coordinated action across sectors. The articles address everything from stewardship in aquaculture to AMR governance frameworks, integrated surveillance, the economics of antimicrobial use, the role of diagnostics in vaccination and other preventative means in reducing antibiotic dependence. The content will appeal to researchers, policymakers, animal health professionals, and anyone who wants to understand where the science currently stands, and where it needs to go.
